Defensible Space Inspection Begin

The annual Defensible Space Inspections (DSI) have begun in Sugar Pine and Mi Wuk Village.  If you own a home here you will soon be visited by inspectors to ensure that your home is as safe as possible in the event of a wildfire.

This is the third year that the Fire Department has engaged in this inspection program.  The program is conducted in collaboration with CAL FIRE and its Volunteers In Prevention Program (VIP).  Special for this year -- we received a grant from Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency to hire three part time temporary inspectors.  These inspectors will be not only conducting inspections but will also be putting the finishing touches on a program plan that can be used in the years to come.  The thrust of the continuing program is to collaborate with CAL FIRE's VIP program and develop an inspection program that is conducted, coordinated, and executed by volunteers from our own neighborhoods.
